On Using the Battery Pack

    Do not leave Sony VGP-BPS2 battery packs in temperatures above 60, such as in a car parked in the sun or under direct sunlight.
  • Battery life is shorter in a cold environment. This is due to decreased battery efficiency at low temperatures.
  • Charge battery packs at temperatures between 10 to 30). Lower temperatures require longer charging times.
  • While the VGP-BPS2 battery pack is in use or being charged, heat builds up in the battery pack. This is normal and is not cause for concern.
  • VAIO computers are designed to operate only with genuine Sony batteries.
  • Keep the battery pack away from all sources of heat or humidity.
  • Keep the VGP-BPS2C battery pack dry.
  • Do not open or try to disassemble the battery pack.
  • Do not expose the battery pack to any mechanical shock.
  • If you are not using your computer for a long period of time, remove the VGP-BPS2A battery pack from the computer to prevent damage to the battery pack.
  • If, after fully charging the battery pack, the battery power is still low, the battery pack may be reaching the end of its life and should be replaced.
  • You do not need to discharge the battery pack before recharging.
  • If you have not used the battery pack for a considerable amount of time, recharge the VGP-BPL2 battery pack.
  • Do not handle damaged or leaking lithium ion batteries. If liquid from the battery gets into your eyes, cleanse with clean water and immediately contact a physician.
  • Danger of explosion if VGP-BPS2C battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Discard used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • The VGP-BPL2C battery pack used in this device may present a fire or chemical burn hazard if mistreated.
  • Dispose of used battery promptly and in accordance with all applicable laws. Do not incinerate.
  • Keep the computer and all accessories away from children.
  • Do not transport or store the computer close to metal objects which may cause a short-circuit.
  • Do not use charging methods other than those specified

On Using the AC Power Source

    See the online Specifications to check the power operation of your model.
  • Do not share the AC outlet with other power-consuming equipment, such as a photocopier or paper shredder.
  • You can purchase a VGP-BPS2 power strip with a surge protector. This device prevents damage to your computer caused by sudden power surges, in an electrical storm, for example.
  • Do not pull or place heavy objects on the power cord. Do not use power cords between the VGP-BPS2C product and desks or walls or bend or damage it at any time. Damage to the power cord could cause fire or electrical shock.
  • To disconnect the power cord, pull it out by the plug. Never pull the cord itself.
  • Unplug your computer from the AC outlet if you are not planning to use the computer for a long period of time.
  • Make sure that the AC outlet is easily accessible to VGP-BPS2A.
  • When the AC adapter is not used, unplug it from the AC outlet.
  • Use the AC adapter supplied with your computer or genuine Sony VGP-BPS5 products. Do not use any other AC adapter as it may cause a fire or electrical shock.

On Handling Your Computer

  • Sony products VGP-BPS2A are carefully designed to be safe when properly used in accordance with these instructions. Misuse may result in fire or electric shock and lead to personal injury.
  • Do not use the computer if it malfunctions. Contact Sony or qualified personnel for servicing.
  • If you experience abnormal conditions such as smoke, heat, abnormal sounds and smell, or if you drop a solid object or any liquid on the computer, follow these instructions:
    1. Turn the power off
    2. Unplug the power cord and/or the connection cables and remove the VGP-BPS2C battery
    3. Contact Sony or qualified personnel for servicing
  • Do not use cut or damaged connection cables.
    • The computer (top and bottom), Presario V3000 battery and the AC adaptor may feel warm to the touch during use. This is normal and the result of the electric current during the charging of the battery or the operation of the CPU. If at any time these items feel abnormally warm, immediately switch off the computer, unplug the power cord from the AC adaptor, remove the HP DV6000 battery and contact Sony or qualified personnel for servicing
  • Clean the cabinet with a soft cloth, which is dry or lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use any type of abrasive pad, scouring powder, or solvent such as alcohol or benzene, as these may damage the finish of your computer VGP-BPL2C.
  • To avoid electrical shock, make sure you disconnect the power cord before cleaning your computer.
  • Do not drop your computer or place any objects on top of the computer.
  • Do not use or store your computer in a location subject to: Heat sources, such as radiators or air ducts; direct sunlight; excessive dust; moisture, rain or high humidity; mechanical vibration or shock; strong magnets or speakers that are not magnetically shielded; ambient temperature higher than 95oF (35oC) or less than 40oF (5oC).
  • Provide adequate air circulation to prevent internal heat from building up. Do not place your computer or AC adaptor on porous surfaces such as rugs or blankets, or near material such as curtains or draperies that may block its air vents.
  • If your computer is brought directly from a cold location to a warm one, moisture may condense inside the computer Pavilion dv2000 battery.   • Do not exert pressure on the LCD screen or its edges when opening the LCD screen lid or lifting your computer. The LCD screen may be sensitive to pressure or added stress and exerting pressure may damage the screen or cause the screen to malfunction. In the event of damage to the LCD screen, please be careful of broken glass. To open the computer, hold the base with one hand and gently lift the LCD screen lid with the other.
  • To carry the computer, make sure to hold the computer pa3399u-2brs battery with both hands.
  • Use a carrying case specially designed to carry your computer.
  • To avoid electrical shock, do not open the cabinet. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
  • Never install modem or telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

  • Viewing of the display (screen) over a long period of time may cause eye fatigue and decreased vision. Rest your eyes periodically if discomfort or pain is experienced. If symptoms persist, please consult with a physician.
  • Excessive use the keyboard over a long period of time may result in injury. Rest periodically if discomfort or pain is experienced. If symptoms persist, please consult with a physician.
  • Listening to the computer through its speakers or headphones at a high-volume over a prolonged period of time may damage your hearing. Please carefully set the volume at a comfortable volume.
  • Do not touch the power plug with wet hands as it may cause electrical shock.
  • Turn off the power when connecting pa3478u-1brs AC adaptors or connection cables to avoid potential for electric shock.
